2 yrs & 7 months

Hi Easton...it's Ama!

It's about time I added a post here for you.  I have a hard time these days getting to all the ones I want to do.  But here you are already on the upside of 2...or is it the downside?  I never can seem to get that straight.  You are definitely more like a three year old than a two year old.  There are so few traces of 'baby' left in you anymore, except for that one major milestone of potty training.  I have a feeling that we may be well into year three before you are completely convinced that big boy underwear is the way to go!  Right now that doesn't entice you at all.

But otherwise...you are talking so grown up and singing your little songs by heart.  You have a few favorites like 'Old MacDonald' and 'Baa Baa Black Sheep' only you say 'Baa Baa Blue Sheep' because that is what is on the app on my ipad.  And you sing A Tisket A Tasket and Peter Piper Picked a Peck of Pickle Peppers that sounds so cute.  The other day you were singing 'The Wheels on the Bus'.  I expect that soon you will be singing some of the songs that you are learning at pre-school.

That brings up another new thing in your life right now.  You started to 'school' this fall.  Tomorrow will only be your third time to go, and I am hoping that you will let me leave you tomorrow, because when I picked you up on Wednesday, you were crying and upset because you wanted Mommy and Daddy.  You had waked up from your nap and were really upset and Miss Casey was gathering up your things when I walked up.  I just hope that it isn't too traumatic for you.  I know it is kind of scary because you haven't been left too many places besides our house and Nana and PawPaw's house.  You haven't even had very many babysitters, so I know this is kind of scary for you.  But I think you like it there.  You seem to remember a lot of the things you do there.  I forgot to ask Miss Casey how the rest of your day went because you were so wanting to get out of there when I picked you up.  I'll try to find out tomorrow how the rest of the day went.  Hopefully you will get to the point where you will look forward to going to school and won't put up a fight about going.  I would hate for that to happen.

You are such a little character, E...you have been watching the movie BABE for the last few weeks since school started and you are back with us full time.  For some reason, you love that movie and want to watch it on the 'little' tv...the old Magnavox console television that belonged to your great Granny.  That is the only tv with a VHS player attached to it.  All the others have DVD players instead.  So we watch Thomas in the bedroom and Babe in the living/playroom.  A lot of the time, tho, you are playing with your race cars or Papa's golf balls, or trains.  You are very good at entertaining yourself a lot of the time, but you like for me to play too.  If it is not too hot out, we go outside and play baseball or golf, or play in the water with the hose.  That is something you really love.  Plus, you love chasing Buddy around the big backyard.  I just hate it because the mosquitoes are so bad right now and they just eat you alive.  It is still really hot out, so we try not to have you out in that heat too much either.

I love being such a big part of your little life right now, but it is also a challenge because you are a very strong willed little guy and have definite ideas of how you want things to go.  You can usually be persuaded to change directions if I present things in such a way that you are convinced it's a good idea.  Otherwise, you have a meltdown that lasts a few minutes and then you get happy again.  I just have to let the storm pass and let you get over the 'mad' part...then we can go about our business.  Part of that is your being TWO, but part of it is your little determined personality.  And since you are so vocal, there is no guesswork to what it is you want.  If I try to force it on you, you will say, "No, I not want that." very emphatically.  You are such a little negotiator too.  You will bargain for 'just one last time, Ama' and that is so cute.  Of course you get that from us always telling you...just one last time Easton.

I am looking forward to the coming months with you and watching you learn and grow into the little boy that you are becoming.  It is so much fun to watch and listen to all of your little songs and sayings.  I must remember to write down some of the things you say that crack me up.

Well, that is all for now, Sweet Pea!  I will see how your day goes tomorrow and report back.
I love you.
Ama
