Hello, Sweet baby boy...it's Ama,
Today you are a week old. Just about this time last Saturday your dad came out with his camera to report your safe arrival. In the week since you were born you have settled into life at your new home with your Mom and Dad, and things are going along pretty smoothly. Of course, right now, it's all about getting to know you and learning about life with a newborn. Your Mom and Dad have taken to life with you quite naturally, it seems, and they are handling the duties of parenthood quite nicely. Of course, there are the usual issues of little sleep and getting down the basics, but those will gradually work themselves out.
You seem to be a calm little one and sleep quite peacefully thru all the activity going on around you. You definitely have your likes and dislikes already! You do NOT like to have your diaper changed and you scream in protest when you have to be uncovered and fussed with. Otherwise, you are quite content to lie wherever, and when awake, just look around to try and make sense of the sounds around you and the sights that are beginning to slowly come into focus. You manage to fall asleep sometimes without being held or rocked, and that we all hope, continues. (Mom says you don't do that as well in the middle of the night, but we have high hopes.) Yesterday while I was over at your house you slept for two hours while Mom and Dad were adding a few decorative touches to the new house. Nothing much phased your peaceful little nap on the couch amidst all the goings on. That is so great, E, because there will always be something going on around your house!!
Wednesday you went to the baby dr. to see Dr. Mann for a checkup. He said your were doing great...plus you had gained back a few ounces. You go back in two weeks for another well-check.
Also, just so you'll know, I took you a present that I have been working on since before we knew you were going to be born. It was a project that I knew was going to take a long time, so I decided I had better get started on it. It is a cute little cross stitched quilt that your mom helped me pick out. I finally finished it this week and took it over to you. It was definitely a labor of love and I am proud of the way it turned out! I made one for your cousin Austin too...so now you both have one. Yours has a little saying on it that I remember my mom saying to me..."I see the moon and the moon sees me. God bless the moon and God bless me!" I used to say that to your dad and uncle, too, so I was glad your mom picked out that one.
Well, happy one week birthday! We are all looking forward to celebrating every milestone!
Have a great week two!!
I love you.
Ama
